Weekend plans and doing homework

 {Lottie on my lap doing homework}
I am pretty excited about the weekend.
I have some weeding to do and soccer games to go to.
I am going to decorate the house for fall, too.
Mr. Nielson took me in the truck to our storage unit where we retrieved the
Halloween/fall decoration boxes.
My girls are so excited to get the Halloween books out.
I have to admit, so am I.

This morning, Mr. Nielson and I dropped baby Charlotte off with my niece Linds
so we could head up the street to the temple.
It was a perfect way to start the morning and kick off the weekend.
The children came home from school today and we sat down at
our dining room table and started homework.
I was giving Jane her French vocab, Oliver his spelling words
while Claire was asking me math questions and Nicholas
was showing me how he can write his name.
Oh, and I was holding Lottie- who had a fist-full of my hair and
with the other fist was eating Oliver's spelling word sheet.

It was chaos.
But I wouldn't want it any other way.
Oddly enough, this is one of my favorite
parts of the day.  My chickens are all home with me and
we're talking, laughing, eating, and exchanging stories...
(and sometimes hitting, screaming, talking over each other, and whatever else}.

This afternoon we are participating in the 'Chalk Block' at Riverwoods.
We have been brainstorming ideas all week of
what our family will draw in our square of space.
We finally came up with something awesome and are so excited to try and create it.
You should come.

Thoughts on happiness

After the children left for school today, Charlotte and I lay on my bed.
Fresh out of the tub, Lottie lay on her back and played with her toes.
The windows were open, and the apple tree dropped apples as the wind blew.
The chimes lightly tapped together, and Charlotte cooed.
The mountains out my window are turning colors; autumn is coming.
This time of the year makes me feel so happy.

It's quiet around my house these mornings since school started.
Charlotte and I take it slow, and I am enjoying every second.
Not a day goes by that I don't thank God for my baby sweetheart.
I want her to be happy always. I want her to make the right choices
to help her grow and become a beautiful and happy woman.
I want her to understand that having a solid testimony
of Christ will always make her happy no matter her circumstances.

Last night I fell asleep listening to some beautiful conference talks.
This talk, in particular
I fell asleep feeling hopeful and peaceful.

There is someone you can forgive.
There is someone you can thank.
There is someone you can serve and lift.
You can do it wherever you are, however alone and deserted you may feel.
With this knowledge, life is beautiful no matter the world's pain, loneliness,
confusion, heartbreak, and sadness.
How blessed I am and feel each day.

Item #2 to share:
One of my favorite doctors in the whole world- Dr. J.
has opened a new office in American Fork, Utah.
He is having an open house tomorrow evening
Come check out his new duds. (white leather exam chairs anyone???)
Here I am trying out one of about seven chairs in his new office.
I was honored enough to be Dr. J's FIRST patient in his new office...
you may remember this?
